AI-Driven Digital Transformation in Indian Tourism for Workforce Optimization and Guest Experience
This research investigates the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in addressing challenges within the Indian tourism industry, specifically in optimizing workforce management and enhancing guest experiences. Centered on Goa, India, a major tourist destination, the study employs five distinct simulations to explore how AI-driven applications can revolutionize operational efficiency and service delivery. These simulations focus on: (1) AI-powered tour guide allocation, optimizing guest satisfaction by matching guides based on language preferences and interests, (2) Personalized itinerary generation through AI, catering to individual travel styles and preferences, (3) AI-driven guest feedback analysis, generating actionable insights to inform targeted staff training and improve service quality, (4) Collaborative AI-human interaction models, designed to efficiently resolve complex guest inquiries by blending AI’s responsiveness with human expertise, and (5) AI-powered workforce scheduling and task optimization, aimed at reducing staff idle time and guest wait times. The findings from these simulations underscore AI’s potential to streamline operations, deliver personalized guest experiences, and enhance resource management. Furthermore, this study addresses the limitations and future advancements needed for AI’s integration in the tourism sector, offering practical recommendations for improving workforce efficiency and guest-centric services. Ultimately, this work contributes to the ongoing digital transformation of the Indian tourism industry, with significant implications for both operational strategies and the future of personalized guest experiences. The research demonstrates how AI can serve as a critical tool in creating a more efficient, responsive, and guest-focused tourism ecosystem in India.
