Compact MIMO Slot Antenna for UWB Applications

This paper introduces a novel compact MIMO slot antenna optimized for Ultra-Wideband (UWB) applications, addressing the critical need for high-performance, space-efficient wireless communication systems. Unlike existing UWB MIMO antennas, which often compromise on size, bandwidth, or mutual coupling, our design successfully achieves a minimal footprint (26 mm x 40 mm) while covering the full UWB spectrum (3.1–10.6 GHz) and maintaining low mutual coupling below -15 dB. Utilizing perpendicular monopole elements and innovative ground stubs, the antenna offers consistent radiation patterns and stable gain across its operational range. The integration of these features makes the antenna ideal for portable devices, enhancing its application in high-data-rate communications and precise localization tasks such as radar imaging and medical sensing. This work not only advances the antenna design but also sets a foundation for further research into scalable, high-efficiency UWB MIMO systems.
