IOT based Smart Bin a Swatch Bharath Initiative
One of the key elements in preventing diseases caused by the improper disposal of waste is waste management. Automation plays a crucial role in optimizing waste management systems, making them faster, more accurate, and reliable while minimizing human contact with hazardous waste. Fewer people were aware of the differences between dry and wet garbage. The primary goal was to eliminate human interaction by automating the segregation mechanism. By integrating automated technology, this system enhances operational efficiency, reduces the risk of errors, and ensures consistent waste handling processes. The system is constructed using hardware elements, such as, sensors, LCD's, and Arduino. To further facilitate the segregation process and increase the degree of management. Furthermore, a large amount of waste is naturally produced, owing to the sharp increase in the population. However, the issues caused by airborne transmission of Covid-19 have affected the entire world. This is because certain Covid hospitals generate hazardous waste, which is then put into dustbins in quarantine zones. The front-line workers in these disorganized work conditions are becoming infected with Covid-19 and are becoming the main point of contact for the virus. To solve this issue, it is imperative that a well-thought-out and systematized method is, put in place. Arduino-based system have been proposed in homes, towns, medical facilities and hospitals to protect the environment and assist frontline staff. The PIR and ultrasonic sensors in the proposed, smart dustbin model detect human motion and the amount of trash in the container, respectively. An Arduino was, interfaced with a GSM - based alert system that periodically transmits alert messages depending, on the garbage level. This automated system not only improves the speed and accuracy of waste management but also optimizes resource allocation, ensuring an efficient, low-power solution suitable for various environments, including healthcare settings impacted by Covid-19. The suggested concept increases front-line workers protection while using extremely little power (Covid-19).
