Multi-Slot Distributed Frequency Control for Low-Carbon Power Systems

This paper proposes a distributed frequency control method to further reduce carbon emissions in low-carbon power systems with uncontrollable renewables. By optimally dispatching thermal generators, carbon capture generators, energy storage units (ESUs), and controllable loads, the method integrates frequency regulation with operational cost and emission minimization. Firstly, a multi-slot low-carbon emission optimal power flow (LCEOPF) problem is formulated, leveraging net demand predictions and energy-constrained ESUs. Then, a distributed control method is proposed to steer the system to the optimal solution of the LCEOPF problem. Simulations validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach in both frequency regulation and carbon emissions reduction.
