A Study on Phishing Detection Techniques

Social engineering attacks are techniques which are employed by malicious threat actors to manipulate users into revealing their sensitive data and thereby compromising it. Phishing is one such type of social engineering attack. Nowadays, phishing has caused a lot of havoc in the world and therefore, it is vital to be aware of phishing attacks and its various techniques. In this paper, we have presented various types of phishing attacks which are employed by threat actors. Several techniques which can be used for phishing detection are also discussed in this paper. Moreover, this paper compares phishing detection techniques based on deep learning like Convolutional Neural networks (CNN), Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL), Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN), etc.
