Developing and Applying VR Bilingual Microlearning Modules on Chinese Modernization in TCFL

To address the lack of contextual learning and the limited understanding of contemporary China among international Chinese learners, the researchers developed AI-assisted, Chinese-English virtual reality (VR) microlearning modules focusing on Chinese-style modernization. A 12-week comparative teaching experiment was conducted with two groups of freshmen international students at a Chinese university. The experimental group received instruction through these VR microlearning modules, while the control group followed the conventional paper textbook teaching model. The experiment demonstrated that, compared to the control group, the experimental group showed significantly greater improvements in interest and enthusiasm for learning Chinese, weekly study time per student, understanding of contemporary China, Chinese language proficiency, and HSK scores. This teaching model effectively enhanced the efficiency of learning Chinese language and culture and received widespread approval from the students.

This teaching model effectively enhanced the efficiency of learning Chinese language and culture and received widespread approval from the students.
