The Impact of Group Awareness Tools on Students' Learning Engagement from the Perspective of CSCL——A Systematic Literature Review Based on Empirical Research (2000-2024)
Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL) has become an important learning approach in the field of education. In CSCL, the impact of group awareness tools on students' learning engagement has drawn much attention. However, there are relatively few that understand and analyze the impact of group awareness tools on students' learning engagement from a systematic perspective. Based on this, this paper, through the analysis and summary of 75 relevant empirical literatures from 2000 to 2024, discusses in detail the characteristics and effects presented in the existing research. The research findings are as follows: (1) the number of relevant studies shows a gradually increasing trend. The research subjects are mainly college students. The sample size ranges from 40 to 80 people, and the research period is mainly concentrated within 0 - 1 month. (2) The design elements of group awareness tools exhibit diversified characteristics, including four elements: awareness content, awareness presentation mode, awareness granularity, and the amount of awareness information. (3) The evaluation methods and evaluation contents regarding the impact of group awareness tools on students' learning engagement are diverse. (4) The impact of group awareness tools on students' learning engagement presents a complex situation in terms of cognition, behavior, emotion, and social interaction. The research aims to provide references for future educational practices and the design and application of group awareness tools.
