Broadband Rectenna with A High-contrast RCS For Backscatter communication
This paper proposes a broadband rectifier which can be used to realize backscatter communication. The proposed rectifier consists of a radio frequency (RF) switch circuit, complex impedance compression network (ICN) and two sub-rectifiers, which can harvest RF energy with high efficiency over a wide input power range and a broad frequency range. The rectifier maintains a stable efficiency range from 2.1 to 2.8 GHz, and achieving an efficiency over 60% of the peak value at input power ranging from -4.68 to 12.13 dBm, with a peak efficiency of 83.8%. Then a corresponding antenna for backscatter communication is also designed. The proposed antenna has an impedance band of 9.07%, spanning from 2.327 to 2.548 GHz. The radar cross section (RCS) of the antenna difference between matched and mismatched maintains beyond 11 dB within the –10 dB impedance bandwidth, and reach about 16 dB at 2.45 GHz.
