Reduction of Mutual Coupling Low Profile Quad Port MIMO Antenna Loaded with Parasitic Elements for 5G Applications

This study demonstrates the design and construction of a compact quad-port dual-band MIMO antenna for 5G applications using a FR4 substrate with dielectric constant 4.3. The antenna operates at 2.5 GHz and 5.1 GHz, covering the frequency bands of 2.8-3.3 GHz and 4.6-5.3 GHz, respectively. It has a tiny footprint of 50.48 mm x 50.48 mm. DGS, chamfering, and parasitic Elements (PE) are utilized to improve gain and reduce mutual coupling. The insertion of PE significantly improves isolation, with -43 dB at 5.1 GHz and -18 dB at 2.5 GHz. The suggested antenna is perfect for high-performance wireless communication, with return losses of -34 dB and -16 dB, gains of 2.4 dB and 5.4 dB, and an efficiency of more than 85%. Furthermore, the MIMO diversity performance is validated using diversity performances like Envelope Correlation Coefficient (ECC) of less than 0.0005, Diversity Gain (DG) greater than 9.99 dB, and Mean Effective Gain (MEG) of -3 dB, which ensures superior signal decorrelation and improved system stability. Because of its tiny size, good isolation, and dual-band capabilities, this design is ideal for 5G Sub-6 GHz applications.
