QoS Based Multimedia Service Access in Emergency Response Wi-Fi Networks

In emergency response scenarios, reliable communication is crucial, requiring robust Wi-Fi networks that support high-quality multimedia services. Quality of Service (QoS) is essential for optimizing the performance of services such as voice communication, video streaming, and real-time data sharing. Usually, conventional cellular networks are damaged during any natural calamity, like cyclones, earthquakes, and floods. The user load will be increased on the other operating networks. Emergency and rescue operations will be carried out using Wi-Fi networks installed in large reallocation centers and open areas. It poses unique challenges in maintaining service quality under adverse conditions, such as limited infrastructure and dynamic user density. Hence, this paper explores the implementation of QoS-based multimedia service access (Q-MSA) in emergency response Wi-Fi networks. This study discusses the performance analysis of prioritized medium access techniques over congested Wi-Fi networks. The simulation findings suggest that the recommended approach improves throughput, lowers transmission delay, and reduces the congestion ratio in these networks.
