Simulation Study on the Operation of Transformer Differential Protection with Braking Characteristics
Transformers play a crucial role in power system grids, making their safe and reliable operation essential. However, due to various reasons, transformers may experience faults or operate abnormally, with the most serious problem being interphase short circuits of the transformer. This paper, based on the MATLAB platform, has built a simulation model of a simple power system and its configured protection model and conducted simulation studies. Considering different operating conditions of the system, interphase short circuits occur at different locations within the protection range, and the working conditions of the protection have been studied to ensure that the protection action values can be reasonably set, ensuring that the protection has a sufficiently high sensitivity. The impact of using different forms of braking current on the sensitivity of the protection has also been studied.
