Design and research of a two-port UWB-MIMO antenna

This paper presents an ultra-wideband (UWB) MIMO antenna using an open annular patch and defected ground plane (DGS). With two antennas arranged in mirror-symmetric configuration (10 mm spacing), the system covers 3.1–10.6 GHz with voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) <2, where the -10 dB impedance bandwidths of S11, S12, S21, and S22 meet UWB requirements. The antenna elements exhibit an envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) <0.005 and diversity gain (DG) >9.999, demonstrating high isolation and omnidirectional radiation, which makes it suitable for multipath fading environments and shows potential for efficient UWB communications.
