The Role of Digital Experience and Learning Orientation in Fostering Entrepreneurial Intention

The invention of information technology promises to contribute to initiatives fostering entrepreneurial intention through digital engagement. This research analyzes the influence of digital experience and digital learning orientation on students' entrepreneurial intention, adopting digital self-efficacy as a mediator factor. A survey of 292 students in Bandung, Indonesia, was performed employing an online questionnaire. The dataset was analyzed with SmartPLS utilizing the PLS algorithm and bootstrapping process, followed by testing for hypotheses. The findings show that digital experience and digital learning orientation greatly improve students' digital self-efficacy. As a result, digital self-efficacy has an immediate and beneficial impact on entrepreneurial intent. Interestingly, digital experience and learning orientation are not having a direct impact on entrepreneurial intention. The findings of the research originality reside in its recognition of digital self-efficacy as a critical mediator between experience and learning orientation with entrepreneurial intention. These outcomes have important implications for Indonesia, underlining the need to boost students' digital learning orientation as a strategic step toward developing a new generation of inventive, adept-at-technology entrepreneurs who can contribute to national economic progress.
