Navigating Leadership Transition and Succession Planning in Ammachi's Masala: Sustaining Legacy in A Family-Owned Food Processing Business

This research examines leadership transition and succession planning in Ammachi's Masala, a family-owned spice manufacturer in Tamil Nadu, India. Through systematic analysis of company practices against established theoretical frameworks, the study integrates company-specific insights with national and global data to identify key success factors in family business transitions. Drawing on a comprehensive literature survey spanning stewardship theory, resource-based perspectives, and succession planning models, this paper analyzes the challenges, strategies, and outcomes of generational change in Indian family businesses. Statistical evidence and data visualizations illustrate industry trends and comparative performance metrics, while recommendations are formulated for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) facing similar transitions. The findings highlight how structured succession planning, formalized governance mechanisms, and balanced integration of traditional values with innovation can significantly enhance the sustainability of family-owned businesses in India's rapidly evolving food processing sector.
