Electric impact on oil — a new technique in the tribology

Significant tribological research, development and testing of friction pairs is carried out to reduce friction and wear. Expensive oils and high-tech additives are used. But the technology of improving friction pairs and lubricants their capabilities have exhausted, and they are no longer appropriate for economic reasons. At the same time physical methods of influence on greases, allow to improve significantly tribotechnics of friction pairs without cost and without change of control of machines and equipment, but are used unreasonably a little. Laboratory studies were carried out on the TRB-S-DE tribometer with a steel "finger — disc" in the oil M-10G2K in the mode of step loading and a steady-state sliding speed of 100 cm/s with an electric effect on the oil of different levels and forms of voltage through copper, aluminum, tin, zinc, graphite, steel electrodes with friction coefficient control, wear indicator. Operational tests conducted on a 29 passenger cars when applying for parts in the engine and transmission, which oils the DC voltage of 12 and 48 To control fuel consumption. All studies confi rmed the effi cacy of improving tribological properties of the mates, low cost impact on motor and transmission-wide oil electric impact on them. For example, in laboratory tests, the DC supply voltage of 12 and 33 V for electrodes made of copper, aluminum, zinc, tin, iron, graphite, which are formed by oil, signifi cantly reduced friction and wear at low loads, less-at medium and no eff ect in the nominal mode. In vehicle tests, DC supply of 12 V and 48 V, even for steel parts in engine oil, saved at least 3% of fuel, and with the impact on the oil in the transmission saves an average of 12 % of fuel. In General, we have identifi ed the feasibility of using the maximum high and only constant voltage in the form of stress to aff ect oils through electrodes made of soft metals. However, it is necessary to conduct tests with electrodes of magnesium alloys. Not solved the problem of the input electrodes in the fl ow of motor oil, which will increase the effi ciency of the impact on the tribology of friction.

Abstract

Significant tribological research, development and testing of friction pairs is carried out to reduce friction and wear. Expensive oils and high-tech additives are used. But the technology of improving friction pairs and lubricants their capabilities have exhausted, and they are no longer appropriate for economic reasons. At the same time physical methods of influence on greases, allow to improve significantly tribotechnics of friction pairs without cost and without change of control of machines and equipment, but are used unreasonably a little.
