This study aims to provide an overview of the inclusive educational practices for students with developmental disabilities in Croatia from the perspective of the best interest of the child. The case study method was used to analyse the education of students with developmental disabilities in regular elementary schools. This study provides an overview and explanation of the leading principle of the Convention on the Rights of the Child: the principle of the best interest of the child. The presentation of the best interest of the child as a right, principle, and procedural rule was provided. The best interest of the child must take precedence when undertaking all activities and making all decisions related to the child, both in the public and private spheres. The concept of the best interest of children with developmental disabilities will be applied to the Croatian context and connected to inclusive educational practices.
