Dual-Band Microwave Sensor With Stable Resonance Response for Medical Applications
A dual-band microwave planar sensor with stable Q-factor parameter is proposed. This is achieved by exploiting the idea to design the sensor by directly considering its radiation in the presence of a reference sample with known dielectric properties, and avoiding to assume radiation into free-space as first guess in the design process, which is usually done in literature. The dual band sensor on two industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) frequency bands (i.e.0.92 GHz and 2.45 GHz) is designed on microstrip technology by exploiting the shorting pin loaded effect. The numerical analysis and experimental results confirm both the desired resonance stability behaviour (stable Q-factor) as well as the sensitivity to discriminate among different dielectric materials.
