The Impact of AI Convergence Education Based on ChatGPT on Learning Social Welfare Subjects: Focusing on Social Welfare Law

The purpose is to analyze the improvement of learners’ understanding of the law, digital literacy, and problem-solving skills by applying AI convergence education based on ChatGPT to the social welfare law subject. As a research method, we designed a 4-week AI convergence class and utilized ChatGPT to conduct a literature study and utilize a case study of curriculum operation targeting students in the Department of Social Welfare at university A in Chungbuk in the 2024 school year. The research contents are as follows, First, learners actively participated through activities such as understanding laws, analyzing cases, comparing policies, and designing questions. Second, learners were able to systematically apply what they learned to the field and acquire the ability to utilize AI. Third, they showed positive changes in problem-solving skills and self-efficacy. Fourth, question design and feedback experience through AI influenced learners’ self-directed learning. Fifth, overall learning interest and immersion increased, and a participation-centered learning environment was created. Conclusion and Suggestion, ChatGPT served as a useful educational tool to enhance learners’ practical ability and learning effectiveness in social welfare education. AI-based education contributed to promoting the transition from teacher-centered to learner-centered classes. In order to effectively spread this change, a system supporting AI-integrated class design should be established.
