Design of a Wideband Millimeter-Wave 5th Order Chebyshev CPW Bandpass Filter

This paper describes a wideband coplanar-waveguide (CPW) bandpass filter (BPF) employing open-circuited stubs for millimeter-wave (mmW) applications. A conventional design approach of fifth-order 0.1 dB Chebyshev BPF is utilized to implement it using open-circuited stubs. Spurious modes suppression is carried out by patterning a low resistance path on either side of the stubs over a two-layered substrate. The design achieves 30% bandwidth with a low insertion loss of 1.69 dB.

Abstract

This paper describes a wideband coplanar-waveguide (CPW) bandpass filter (BPF) employing open-circuited stubs for millimeter-wave (mmW) applications. A conventional design approach of fifth-order 0.1 dB Chebyshev BPF is utilized to implement it using open-circuited stubs. Spurious modes suppression is carried out by patterning a low resistance path on either side of the stubs over a two-layered substrate. The design achieves 30% bandwidth with a low insertion loss of 1.69 dB.
