Transparent and Flexible Multiband Antenna with Defective Ground Structure for Satellite Applications

A transparent and flexible antenna is designed with featuring square lattice wired metal mesh patches in close proximity to achieve optical transparency. To improve gain, slots are used in patch and the defective ground structure is used. A 0.1 mm thick transparent and flexible PET substrate with dielectric constant 3.5 for existing design. Two substrates Polyethylene and Molybdenum with relative permittivity 2.25 and 1 respectively in proposed design. The performance of the designed antennas is evaluated for parameters like radiation efficiency, gain, total efficiency, directivity, half power beamwidth, bandwidth, etc. The results of proposed antenna prove that is improves gain by 7.08%, directivity improves by 14.82%. The total efficiency improves by 29.3%, maximum radiation intensity is improved by 39.7%. The beam width becomes narrow by 41.17%. The bandwidth improves by 61.3% for smaller bands and by 50% for larger bands.
