Measurement of Haemoglobin Iron Content in the Blood of Laboratory Animals with the SQUID Magnetometer

Magnetic properties of haemoglobin in different concentrations were studied, and from these measurements, the dependence of the saturation magnetisation on the haemoglobin concentration was obtained. This enabled the determination of the content of haemoglobin in the blood of laboratory animals (BHR male rats) based on magnetization measurements using a SQUID magnetometer.

Abstract

Magnetic properties of haemoglobin in different concentrations were studied, and from these measurements, the dependence of the saturation magnetisation on the haemoglobin concentration was obtained. This enabled the determination of the content of haemoglobin in the blood of laboratory animals (BHR male rats) based on magnetization measurements using a SQUID magnetometer.
