Multi-User Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) Communications Through Binary Flower Pollination Algorithm-Based User and Antenna Scheduling

In this paper, we take a look at multi-user multipleinput multiple-output(MU-MIMO) communication system that uses the user scheduling mechanisms. When looking to boost system throughput and spectral efficiency, networks often use MU-MIMO communication technologies. Users are chosen at the base station (BS) according to the signal-to-interference-plusnoise ratio (SINR). A base station with M transmit antennas will choose the M best antennas on the receiving side and send data in separate, parallel streams to those antennas. The combined user and receive antenna scheduling procedure faces a massive search space as the number of active users and receive antennas increases. Within the time constraints of wireless transmission, it is very challenging to explore the full search space. Methods for user and receiving antenna joint scheduling based on low complexity are presented in this study. The results demonstrate that a scheduling method based on low complexity may achieve system throughput that is comparable to the optimal scheme which evaluates all the possibilities. The amount of complex multiplications and additions that are needed by these low complexity approaches is much lower than that of an exhaustive search algorithm, which is an interesting observation that can be made from this observation.
