Precision Diagnosis: A Hybrid Deep Learning Architecture for Renal Cyst Identification
This paper introduces a new hybrid architecture for renal cyst diagnosis through the combination of state-of-the-art Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Gradient Boosting Classifiers. Proper detection of kidney cysts from CT images plays a vital role in facilitating early medical intervention. The new method utilizes an improved version of CNN, EfficientNet, to extract features since it has the compound scaling feature, which satisfies the best depth-width-resolution trade-off ratio to extract hierarchical features. These features thus obtained are subsequently passed through LightGBM, a fast gradient boosting algorithm, after being reduced in dimension for binary classification of no cyst versus cyst. The model has an extremely low rate of false positives at 1.5%, indicating its viability for real-time clinical use given its computation speed. Conventional methods are not merely slower but less accurate than the hybrid approach, making the latter a viable alternative for kidney cyst detection in healthcare environments. Integrating the effective feature extraction capabilities of deep learning with the pace and lucidity of gradient boosting classifiers, the model sets the new benchmark for medical image analysis for the purpose of detecting renal cysts. The study emphasizes the possibilities of combining CNN-based deep learning with gradient boosting methods, which provides valuable innovations in medical diagnostic technology.
