VLSI Design Of Fixed-Point FFT Algorithm Using VHDL

This paper presents the design and implementation of a high-precision fixed-point Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) algorithm utilizing Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) technology. As digital signal processing applications increasingly demand real-time performance and efficiency, fixed-point arithmetic emerges as a viable alternative to floating-point computation, balancing precision and resource utilization. This work explores the architectural considerations, quantization methods, and optimization strategies essential for effective FPGA implementation of FFT. We analyze various designs, assess their performance metrics, and discuss challenges in achieving high precision while minimizing resource consumption. Experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed approach, paving the way for advanced applications in communications, multimedia, and beyond
