Identification of a Faulty Antenna in Large FM Antenna System Using Hybrid Dataset

Faulty antenna identification by direct comparison between calculated and measured radiation patterns is already an efficient method, however, the real environment and parameters of the real antenna system complicate any following analysis. The goal of this study is to improve the resemblance between measured radiation patterns and patterns predicted by numberical calculations in numerical software by substracting a difference function from the measured pattern. The difference function is based on the calculated and measured datasets. Implementation of this method may lead to a more robust method of identifying the faulty antenna in an antenna system.

Abstract

Faulty antenna identification by direct comparison between calculated and measured radiation patterns is already an efficient method, however, the real environment and parameters of the real antenna system complicate any following analysis. The goal of this study is to improve the resemblance between measured radiation patterns and patterns predicted by numberical calculations in numerical software by substracting a difference function from the measured pattern. The difference function is based on the calculated and measured datasets. Implementation of this method may lead to a more robust method of identifying the faulty antenna in an antenna system.
