Growth of Saccharomyces Cerevisiae in a 50 Hz Magnetic Field
The influence of low-frequency magnetic fields (LF-MFs) on biological systems remains a subject of debate due to conflicting findings. This study investigates the impact of a 50 Hz, 3.5 mT magnetic field on the growth of Saccharomyces cerevisiae CCY 21-4-99. Yeast culture was incubated under controlled conditions with and without LF-MF exposure, and growth was assessed turbidimetrically. Our results showed no statistically significant difference between the exposed and control groups, suggesting that LF-MF exposure under these conditions does not affect yeast growth. Given the inconsistencies in previous research, our study highlights the need for rigorous methodology and replication efforts in LF-MF studies.
