Prospective Observational Study To Assess The Role Of Anti Diabetic Medications On Quality Of Life & Cognitive Functioning Impairment In T2DM Patients

This is a simple prospective observational study on Type 2 diabetes mellitus patients will be done to evaluate the cognitive functioning/impairment & health-related quality of life. This study was conducted over a period of 9 months from December  2023 to August 2024.The study enrolled 160 patients of Type 2 diabetes mellitus. Study includes 51% females and 49% males in which the mean age was 53.9±8.5. The majority of the subjects were seen in the age group of 50-59 years (35%), followed by 60-69 years (34%). In this study we assessed cognitive functioning & health related quality of life was assessed by using MMSE, MoCA scales & SF12V2 questionnaire. The mean duration of diabetes mellitus (DM) in the study subjects was 12.08±7.01. The mean of both MMSE and MoCA scores are 22.4 ±6.31 and 18.13 ±7.7. There was significance association between duration of diabetes (p-value=0.03), age (p-value=0.0118) with cognitive impairment. And there was no significant association between HbA1C and gender. There was significant association with health-related quality of life among participants in terms of HbA1C (%), co-morbidities and age (years) as a categorical variable, where, p value is <0.05, whereas no significant association were reported in other characteristics, including gender, duration of diabetes & BMI (kg/m2), p value is >0.05.
