Wave-like evolution equation for oncolytic virus
Oncolytic viruses have been extensively studied for their ability to selectively target and kill cancer cells within a tumor. Many existing models of cancer cells with oncolytic virus therapy are based on the reaction-diffusion equation. In our study, we will introduce a wave-like evolution equation for oncolytic virus. In our model, the oncolytic virus does not spread beyond the boundary of the tumor, as shown in Figs. 1(a) and 2(a). On the other hand, in the reaction-diffusion model, the virus spreads outside the tumor, as shown in Figs. 1(b) and 2(b). Considering that the tumor is the host of oncolytic virus, our model aligns with the observed behavior of oncolytic virus in reality.
