Abstract: This aferword to the Discussion Forum reflects on the limitations, but also the usefulness, of Marshall Sahlins's New Science . Sahlins lacked an awareness of his own positionality in ways that have made his work unnatractive to Indigenous scholars (and scholars in the field of Indigenous Studies), but his epistemological self-confidence also made possible a mode of culture critique still important today.
