DIREÇÃO ESCOLAR: ASPECTOS DE UMA ADMINISTRAÇÃO DEMOCRÁTICA E PARTICIPATIVA
ABSTRACT This research addresses the issue of school management and explores concepts associated with autonomy, competence, and leadership in education. Based on the management style proposal that is currently in place, it seeks to identify the appropriate leadership styles for educational spaces that wish to implement democratic leadership. Its purpose is to recognize the individual competencies necessary for the performance of the school principal. Based on this vision, it sought to present, through a literature review, the concepts of a more democratic vision that a school principal should implement in his/her work environment, seeking, through the implementation of ideas that contemplate the entire school community, results that provide not only a pleasant work environment, but also develop quality education. This study had a qualitative approach based on the ideas of Marcone and Lakatos 2021. The results of the study allowed us to deduce that school management processes have circumvented the administrative issue and placed the school in a place that is simultaneously educational and recreational, making the institution a place of significant learning and community activity, the latter facilitated by the democratization of institutional relations and the active participation of the community within the school. Although there are still obstacles to be overcome, it is believed that the first steps have already been taken to achieve democratic, participatory and collaborative leadership that will facilitate the transmission of knowledge.
