Advances in the Study of Vascular Cognitive Dysfunction

Vascular cognitive impairment (VCI) is a cognitive dysfunction caused by cerebrovascular disease and its related risk factors, which has a significant impact on the health and quality of life of the elderly worldwide, and has become the second most common cause of cognitive impairment after Alzheimer’s disease, especially among people aged 60 years and above in China. This article reviews the latest research progress in the pathophysiological mechanisms, neuroimaging, biomarkers, and therapeutic strategies of vascular cognitive impairment.
