Dynamics of a viscoelastic microbeam on Winkler foundation induced by laser excitation: A nonlocal MGT heat conduction approach

Abstract This study proposes a novel thermo‐viscoelastic model for an Euler–Bernoulli microbeam on a Winkler foundation, subjected to ultrafast laser heating and axial stress. This model marks a significant advancement in microscale dynamics. The work integrates the Kelvin–Voigt viscoelastic model with the nonlocal Moore–Gibson–Thompson (MGT) heat equation, incorporating size‐dependent effects and non‐Fourier heat conduction based on the Guyer–Krumhansl framework with a single‐phase lag. This approach captures the interplay of viscosity, nonlocal thermal dynamics, and laser‐induced vibrations, providing a robust framework for microsystem analysis. The governing equations for thermoelastic vibrations are derived and solved analytically via the Laplace transform, complemented by numerical methods for inverse transformations. Discussions highlight how viscous damping, nonlocal thermal length scale, laser pulse duration, and axial load affect deflection and temperature responses, with numerical illustrations validating these results against existing literature. Key results reveal that viscous damping stabilizes deflections; nonlocal thermal effects amplify size‐dependent behaviors; shorter laser pulses induce sharper deflection peaks; and axial loads intensify vibrations. These findings provide critical insights for designing micro‐electromechanical systems, demonstrating the model's precision and applicability.
