Building Data Link Layer of SDR Systems Based on Software Communications Architecture
The Software Communications Architecture (SCA), as a commonly used communication software architecture, provides a top-level design specification for software-defined radios and defines necessary software and hardware interface constraints. It offers high flexibility and scalability. In this paper, based on the design principles of SCA, a communication software for the link layer is developed. This software adheres to the SCA format for software interfaces. Additionally, it draws inspiration from the widely used IEEE 802.11 standard in wireless networks and simplifies certain functions to meet the basic requirements of the link-layer software. The implemented functionalities include data transmission, time synchronization, Beacon frame-related mechanisms, and more, supporting basic ad-hoc networking capabilities. The paper conducted testing and validation of these functionalities, including verification of fundamental operations and comprehensive testing at the network layer. The results of the experiments demonstrate the correctness of the software interface implementation and the effectiveness of the functionalities.
