A Low-Power, Slope-Adjustable Logarithmic Amplifier with 0.18μm SiGe Process
A continuous-detection logarithmic amplifier is designed using 180nm SiGe technology for low-power field strength meters requiring large dynamic range. The architecture employs a nine-stage fully-differential limiting amplifier cascade and ten-stage detector array for logarithmic compression. A sleep control unit reduces power to 241μW during inactivity, while an external resistor enables output slope adjustment from 15mV/dB to 32mV/dB for back-end system compatibility. Simulations under 5V supply demonstrate 90dB input dynamic range (error ≤1dB), - 3dB bandwidth of 100MHz-4GHz, and 162mW power consumption in active mode.
