Tactile Intelligence Enabled Pulse Oximeter for Motion Artifacts Removal
SpO<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf> is one of the most important vital signs. Photoplethysmography (PPG) is commonly used for SpO<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf> monitoring. However, motion artifacts caused by mechanical noise between the wearable device and the measurement site can affect the signal quality of PPG signals. Here, We developed a Tactile Intelligence enabled Pulse Oximeter (TIPO) with a data-driven encoder-decoder model for accurate SpO<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf> monitoring. The system integrates a flexible iontronic interface sensor with a micro PPG module. Tests during exercise showed the performance of TIPO is comparable to medical-grade equipment, with 8 times lower standard error than commercial device, demonstrating the potential of wearable flexible sensors and AI for optimized SpO<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf> monitoring in motion artifacts removal.
