Biodegradable Connector for Underwater Robotics

Biodegradable robots promise a sustainable and eco-friendly future. Integrating biodegradability is particularly important in the case of those deployed for environment monitoring and closely interacting with the ecosystems. This minimizes the harmful outcomes of technological interactions with living organisms and reduces waste from obsolete robots. This paper presents the design and development of a biodegradable connector for underwater robotics. The connector comprises currentconducting tracks, a robust mechanical holder, and waterproof encapsulation. Manufactured using low-cost, eco-friendly, and easily available materials, this proof-of-concept offers a sustainable solution for advancing contemporary robotic systems.
