REGISTRATION OF ORISUN-741 SUNFLOWER HYBRID
The ORISUN-741 sunflower hybrid was released in 2023 for edible oil production. ORISUN-741 is a cross of two inbred lines (Hybrid of ORI-92 and RL-86) made in 2017 at Oilseed Research Institute, Faisalabad and its permanent name was assigned 2021. Evaluation was done in different replicated yield trials for four years harvested from 2018 to 2021. The hybrid was higher in yield 2648 kg/ha and 2329 kg/ha and oil content 41% profile than that of local check hybrids varieties Hysun-33 (2196 kg/ha) and AGSUN-5264 (2234 kg/ha) in National Uniform Sunflower Yield Trials 2019-20 and 2020-21, respectively. It showed more tolerance against Charcoal Rot and sucking pests and performed better as compared to commercial standard. Release of ORISUN-741 gives farmer a new choice for the production of oilseed crop.
