Assessment of Directional Drilling Artefacts with Ultrasonic Images While Drilling

Summary In Summary, systematic analysis of HD Ultrasonic wellbore imager from a well drilled with RSS BHA in Oklahoma reveals detailed geological and drilling-induced features. Additional Gamma images from the same tool also help to identify changes in texture from Shale, Coal, Limestone, and Sandstone. The close correlation between the drilling-induced bubble marks and the drilling and steering activities demonstrates the utility of the imaging tool beyond formation and geological evaluation and should be explored further to understand the impact of drilling processes and BHA designs.
