Leveraging Geosteering and Dipole Sonic to Maximize Production of Horizontal well Fracturing.
Summary This study demonstrates the successful integration of real-time geosteering and dipole sonic logging to enhance hydraulic fracturing performance in a thin, 3-meter-thick reservoir in onshore Thailand. By combining precise wellbore placement with advanced geomechanical analysis, a horizontal well with multistage fracturing was optimized to maximize reservoir contact and production efficiency. The approach not only improved fracture network connectivity but also reduced development costs. The methodology offers a practical solution for similar thin, low-porosity reservoirs, highlighting its potential for broader field application.
