Research on Digital Fetishism from the Perspective of Marx’s Critical Theory of Capital
Digital fetishism is a product of the convergence of digital capital and digital technology in the digital age. As the latest form of fetishism, digital fetishism is a contemporary extension of Marx’s three major fetishes. The phenomenon of digital fetishism reflects the public’s blind trust and worship of new digital idols such as digital technology and data products in the digital age. It obscures the reality of the reversed materialization of the production relationship between people; It has brought about social issues such as privacy monitoring, consumer alienation, and hidden exploitation of digital labor, which have had a negative impact on the healthy development of China’s digital economy. Therefore, it is one of the tasks that should be carried out at the current stage of development to critically reflect on the phenomenon of digital fetishism from a philosophical perspective based on Marx’s theory of capital criticism, and explore its resolution path in combination with the reality of China’s digital economy development.
