Strategic Management Approach of Single Maxillary Central Incisor Restorations Using Computer-aided Design/Computer-aided Manufacturing Technology in Fixed Dental Prostheses: A Case Series
Assigned to the technological advances of the "digital age" in the dental office, CAD/CAM technology has become well-approved and utilized. 8n dental practice, CAD/CAM process is made up of: First: Data acquisition refers to capturing dentition and its adjacent structures, converting them into digital formats. This can be achieved directly within the patient's oral cavity through an optical scanner or indirectly by taking physical impressions and fabricating physical casts. 8 IntroductIonPreserving the health and stability of the anterior portion of the dentition is essential for most patients undergoing prosthodontic treatment. 1The most restorative problem besides the functional components is esthetics because even the smallest lip motion or grin might show structural or chromatic disparities. 2While restoring a unique upper central incisor within a fixed prosthesis, prosthodontists strive to provide esthetic restorations that mimic the natural dentition. This prosthetic rehabilitation involves the two technical and esthetic skill sets delivered by the dentist and the lab technician. 2,3his case series presents a structured and innovative approach to restoring a single maxillary central incisor using a dentalsupported layered zirconia crown, fabricated with computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology and a five-axis milling system. It provides a comprehensive, stepby-step overview of the prosthetic workflow, covering diagnostic techniques, treatment protocols, and patient outcomes. The focus is on achieving optimal function and esthetics while ensuring the long-term stability of the anterior dentition and enhancing the patient's overall satisfaction.Current advances in dentistry have enabled dentists to make precise impressions, 4,5 accurately diagnose and plan treatments (using artificial intelligence and other software), 4 and fabricate excellent quality dental prostheses using novel materials and methods such as robotics, 6 and additive and subtractive technologies.
