Research Progress on the Impact of Acupuncture on Post-Stroke-Related Symptoms in Patients with Hypertension
Hypertension is one of the significant risk factors for stroke. Although current pharmacological therapies for hypertension are effective, they do not achieve complete control. Patients are required to take medication long-term and also face potential side effects. In recent years, the blood pressure-lowering effects of traditional Chinese medicine therapy and its therapeutic advantages in cerebrovascular diseases have become increasingly evident. Particularly, acupuncture intervention has become a hot topic of research both domestically and internationally for its impact on hypertensive post-stroke symptoms. This article reviews the effects of acupuncture on blood pressure regulation and its impact on sleep, mental state, neurological function, gastrointestinal function, and mechanisms of action in hypertensive stroke patients, thereby providing a reference for the clinical use of acupuncture in the treatment of hypertensive stroke.
