PROSPECTS FOR USING DYNAMIC TYMPANIC TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENTS TO DETERMINE THE TIME OF DEATH AT THE SCENE (A LITERATURE REVIEW)
Determining the time of death is an important aspect of forensic medical examination, allowing experts to narrow the time interval between a person’s death and the discovery of the body. This review highlights the external auditory canal as a promising anatomical area for estimating the time of death at the scene using thermometry. A forensic comparative assessment is provided on determining the time of death using an infrared tympanic thermometer. The paper draws attention to the method for calculating the postmortem interval proposed by several foreign researchers based on tympanic temperature readings obtained via infrared thermometers.
