Study of organic and inorganic fertilizers on yield of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.)

The Present investigation entitled “Study of organic and inorganic fertilizers on growth, yield and quality of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.)” was conducted at Horticultural Instructional farm, Department of Horticulture, Barrister Thakur Chhedilal College of Agriculture and Research Station, Bilaspur C.G. during rabi season of 2023-24. The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 10 treatments and 3 replications to assess the impact of different combinations of organic and inorganic fertilizers on yield. The treatments included control, varying levels of Recommended Dose of Fertilizers (RDF), Farm Yard Manure (FYM), Vermicompost and Consortia. Significant differences were observed among treatments for all parameters studied. Result revealed that the treatment receiving RDF 75% + Vermicompost @ 5 t ha-1 fortified with Consortia of biofertilizers (T7) recorded the highest yield (338.19 q ha-1), followed by RDF 75% + FYM @ 10 t ha-1 fortified with Consortia of biofertilizers (T5), while the lowest yield was noted in the control (T1). The study confirms that integrated nutrient management enhances yield of tomato while promoting sustainable production.
