Importance of health and nutrition in adolescent girls

This paper is an attempt to analyse the importance of health and nutrition in adolescent girls. Adolescents are the future of the nation, forming a major demographic and economic force. Adolescence refers more broadly to the phase of human development encompassing the transition from childhood to adulthood. Adolescence comprises 1/5th to 1/6th of population of any area and this important demographic dividend has to be considered in framing policies. The period of adolescence holds special place in the life span of girls. Proper nutrition and good health is important in this phase of life.
