Cancer-associated venous thromboembolism: advances and clinical challenges in anticoagulation therapy
Venous thromboembolism is one of the most frequent and severe complications of cancer, with significant impact on the prognosis and survival of oncology patients. As oncologic therapies advance, the risk of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism increases, requiring continuous reassessment of anticoagulant strategies. This article analyzes the recommendations from major international guidelines (ESC, ASH, ACCP, IC-OS) on anticoagulation in oncology patients, with emphasis on personalized therapy and the delicate balance between thrombotic and hemorrhagic risks.
