The association between nomophobia, anxiety, and depression among Brazilian teachers
Nomophobia—defined as the intense fear of being disconnected from the internet—has been increasingly recognized for its psychological implications. This study explored its associations with anxiety and depression in a sample of 248 Brazilian teachers. We hypothesized that nomophobia would be positively correlated with both conditions. Participants completed questionnaires on technology use, along with validated instruments for assessing anxiety and depression. The results confirmed significant positive associations between nomophobia, anxiety, and depression. These findings underscore the importance of promoting critical digital literacy to encourage balanced and mindful technology use within educational environments, ultimately mitigating its psychological effects.
