Active Rectification Modeling of High-Speed Permanent Magnet-Assisted Synchronous Reluctance Generator for Aircraft Power Generation
This paper presents a modeling study of a high-speed, <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$40-\text{kW}$</tex> permanent magnet-assisted synchronous reluctance generator (PMa SynRG) integrated with a <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$270 ~\mathrm{V}_{\text{dc}}$</tex> electrical power generation system. This generator is a promising alternative to traditional 3-stage wound rotor synchronous generators used in aircraft. A finite element analysis was conducted using ANSYS to evaluate steady state characteristics, while MATLAB Simulink was used to assess dynamic performance and control strategies. The PMa SynRG achieves over 93 % efficiency and near unity power factor. The system meets MIL-STD-704F transient and ripple standards and demonstrate effective fault management.
