Effect of Sympathetic Inrush Current at PQ Control Station on Transformer Saturation at DC Voltage Control Station in VSC-HVDC System
The voltage source converter based high-voltage direct current (VSC-HVDC) technology is widely applied in scenarios such as large-scale power transmission and renewable energy integration. This paper studies the effect of sympathetic inrush current in a two-terminal VSC-HVDC system. It is found out that the sympathetic inrush current at the PQ control station can cause transformer saturation at the DC voltage control station under certain condition. Firstly, the disturbance caused by sympathetic inrush current at the PQ control station is analyzed. Then, the reasons for transformer saturation at the DC voltage control station are explained. Finally, the correctness of the analytical conclusion is verified by simulation results.
