Cryogenic Bus Bar Design for IZEA Aircraft Power Distribution System
This paper presents the design and experimental evaluation of a cryogenic bus bar system for the IZEA light electric aircraft power distribution network. We examine an Al 6061 aluminum bus bar with multilam connectors operating at room temperature (295 K) and liquid nitrogen temperature (77 K), characterizing contact resistance across key interfaces under DC currents. Results demonstrate a 34 % reduction in overall system resistance at cryogenic temperatures, with the aluminum bus bar itself showing a 68 % decrement.
